Production on the “Dune” sequel is presently underway in Abu Dhabi, which stands in for the movie’s fictional desert planet Arrakis. Pre-shooting productions for the movie also took place in Jordan and Italy before principal photography started in Budapest, Hungary, in July of this year.

Chani, a young Fremen woman and the love interest of Timothee Chalamet’s character Paul Atreides, will be played by Zendaya once more. She played a minor supporting role in the first film, but she will co-star as the protagonist in the next one.

Timothee recently gushed over Zendaya’s performance in Variety, saying, “She hasn’t wrapped yet, and it’s great.” She is bringing more of exactly what she brought to the first one, which was wonderful.

Back in charge of “Dune: Part Two” is Denis Villeneuve. It features new cast members Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Christopher Walken, and Lea Seydoux in addition to Rebecca Ferguson (II), Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem reprising their roles from the first half of Frank Herbert’s novel of the same name.
